BIG - EMPTY - HEAVY - DEEP - DARK

The building is big with nothing in it, all empty and alone. Its deep structure makes it darker, the further in you go. You can feel the cold heaviness of the space around you due to the concrete walls and columns.

I started with adding my words and feelings into my building from when I visited the site as it is today, empty. Then I added to that by showing what the words mean. The deeper you get into K&L the darker it gets as not much light reaches the back.

To further develop this idea I printed off my dissertation which was on biophilic design. I wanted to make something out of these words as they will be inspiring my design for Knight and Lee in the future. Not only will biophilic design inspire my designs but these words symbolise the materials used, shapes created, visuals added, etc.

I wove the sentences back together after cutting them apart, thought the process time and care was taken, like when a bird builds a nest or bamboo baskets. Then I moved to a more 3 dimensional method, creating "waves", curves and paths. Making forms out of the words and giving the words more density in a different manner.
